Brown tabby, long hair cat spotted

Cat appeared on the back porch meowing at the door, would not go home after many hours despite the late time of night (1 am or later) and the cold. She appeared afraid and distressed and was preparing to sleep outside on the porch. On closer inspection she was a bit dirty, covered in painful thistle burrs and was ripping out her own fur to remove them. She also had no tags. Fearing that she may be lost and need medical attention, we left the door open and she entered. In the morning, we checked her at the vet for a microchip but she didn't have one. For the time being we're capable of caring for her until she's claimed.

Somewhat young cat found on Drolet street right by Jean Talon Ouest. It’s ginger with some white spots on its fur, primarily the chest, belly and some white ringlets on the tail. It didn’t have a collar like most outdoor cats. Never seen the cat before either and it’s been outside since the morning today, so I thought I’d check to verify that it’s living in the area as it was friendly! I have cats myself so I needed to be 100% sure it’s not a lost pet as I see cases like that a lot in the city. If this is your cat consider getting it a break-away collar as it will probably tell a lot of people, like me, that it’s mean to be outdoors too!
